Cognitive impairments in the context of aging and neurological disease account for a significant portion of healthcare costs and burden globally, with the rates of cognitive decline, increases with population size and longevity. This presentation will review how mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is a stage of cognitive decline in which further impairment or conversation to dementia may be prevented via improving cognition through exercise and dual-task training. Finally, this program will provide observers with a practical methodology for single-task cognitive, physical, and dual-task capacities, in an effort to create a person-specific prescription that is leveled for difficulty and challenge to create functionally relevant improvements. These goals will be accomplished using SMARTfit, a novel technology for the assessment and training of cognition and dual-task abilities.
